How To Explain Blogging...

What is Blogging?
So what is blogging?To explain blogging is easy... a blog is short for a web log, or online journal. It allows you to post information, tips, thoughts and ideas in a running log format for others to view. To create a blog is easy too. What's not so easy, is to maintain it. Few people have the time or inclination to regularly update their blogs with quality, interesting content that others would love to read. If you're keen on making a go of it, blogging can actually benefit your business in a huge way. How? Well, let me count the ways... and you'll find them all in our section on
business blogging.
But first, wanna-be bloggers need to have some fun too!
Mind Puzzle: When Amy took her dog for a walk, it did not walk in front of her, behind her, above her, below her or to one side of her - and she wasn't carrying it. Where did it walk?
(The answer is elsewhere on this page.)
Advantages of Blogging
Not sure if a blog is right for you or your online business? To explain blogging, the advantages of blogging have to be considered as well.
1. Search Engines love blogs;
2. Blogging helps you build a great relationship with your visitors (and potential customers);
3. It keeps your visitors up to date with your latest offerings;
4. Content is archived forever;
5. The right blog with the right content gives you media exposure;
6. Hosting a blog is a way to showcase your expertise.
7. Blog content can be repurposed into articles, e-books, reports and books. In fact, many bloggers have found publishing success by building a loyal following online.

Challenges of Blogging
You have to be realistic though! Business blogging is no walk in the park. In order to adequately explain blogging, challenges have to be looked at too:
1. A successful blog doesn't happen overnight. The web is littered with blogs that were started in a rush of enthusiasm and then abandoned. Understand that you have to be in it for the long haul.
2. It takes consistent effort and sustained creativity to keep a blog going. If you know you can't afford to spend the time, you may want to think about hiring a freelance blogger or ghost writer to keep the momentum going.
3. If you're prepared to put your thoughts out for the world to see, be prepared to attract criticism -- sometimes justified, but often not. If you don't already have one, develop a thick skin and a sense of humour!
