What Do Business Champions Have In Common?

Words to the Wise!

Business Champions Business champions have one thing in common. They believe they have something to offer the world. They're willing to make a spectacular contribution. Nelson Mandela in his 1994 inaugural speech quoted words from a poem by Marianne Williamson:

"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. We ask ourselves, 'Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, and famous?' Actually, who are you not to be?"

Give full reign to your unique talent. There's no real injury in failure but there's much regret in not trying.

Success Drivers

The 1,000% Factor

Let me introduce you to the 1,000% factor:

"Winners – even in mundane, declining, battered or regulated environments – don’t do only a percent or two better than the norm. They do hundreds of percent better – at least."

This quote comes from a great book called A Passion for Excellence: The Leadership Difference, written by Tom Peters and Nancy Austin. The central message is that business champions are driven by a passion for excellence in every little thing they do. They are determined to give their very best to whatever project they focus on.

How to apply it to your online business? Don't be satisfied with anything less than your best. You don't have to compare your website with anyone else's - there will probably always be someone out there who does it bigger and better, but at the very least you have to offer your best! You owe that to yourself.

Please visit our page on business success on the 'how to' of becoming the best in your business.

That brings me to the concept of super-discipline... but first, even business champions make time to have a bit of fun! You'll find the answer elsewhere on this page.

Mind Puzzle: 'Two's company and three's a crowd'.
What are four and five?

(You will find the answer elsewhere on this page.)

Super-Discipline

When you combine disciplined action with an ethic of entrepreneurship, you get the magical alchemy of great performance.

I guess a culture of discipline can best be illustrated by the rinsing your cottage cheese story. Ever heard of Dave Scott? He won the Hawaii Ironman Triathlon six times, would ride his bike 75 miles in training, swim 20,000 meters, and run 17 miles – on average, every single day. Dave Scott did not have a weight problem, yet he believed that a low-fat, high carbohydrate diet would give him an extra edge. So, Dave Scott, a man who burned at least 5,000 calories a day in training, would literally rinse his cottage cheese to get the extra fat off. Rinsing his cottage cheese was just one more small step that he believed would make him just that much better, one more step added to all the other small steps to create a consistent program of super-discipline.

What does this have to do with building your website? Everything! Are you rinsing your cottage cheese when it comes to doing your keyword-research, creating your product, looking after your visitors?

If you know you can do better, then do better... That's what business champions do!

Do You Have The Necessary Passion?

If you still find it difficult to believe that your hobbies and life skills can generate a solid income on the Web, read what passion can do for you ~ and find some answers here.

The Extra Dimension

Business champions hold a deeply held set of core values that distinguish them from the rest of the herd. These values included contribution, respect for their visitors and potential customers, responsibility to the online community, and a deeply held belief that profit is not the fundamental goal of what they do.

The extra dimension is a guiding philosophy which consists of core values and a core purpose - a reason for being beyond just making money.

I hope you know what the core purpose of your website is. If not, stop! and make sure you work it out!

Worth Quoting: Anthony Robbins on Commitment

"I believe life is constantly testing us for our level of commitment, and life's greatest rewards are reserved for those who demonstrate a never-ending commitment to act until they achieve. This level of resolve can move mountains, but it must be constant and consistent. As simplistic as this may sound, it is still the common denominator separating those who live their dreams from those who live in regret."

10 Steps to Business Success

1. Do your homework to ensure there's a market for your online business.

2. Do a website SWOT analysis to carve a sustainable niche in your market.

3. Test your business concept on family and friends first.

4. Educate yourself - never stop learning.

5. Build a website to be proud of.

6. Deliver value to your visitors with free reports, e-books and e-courses.

7. Be worthy of other people's trust.

8. Use your mistakes as opportunities to learn.

9. Enjoy yourself! You are in business because you want to be, not because you have to be.

10.If you're down, get up again (...and again, and again).

Business Champions create websites that reflect their commitment and integrity. Come join the ranks!
